THE ANDES ON YOUR BACK
All our textiles are woven in Peru, which makes you one of us.
Daypacks that merge the Ancient Andean culture with Modern Technology.
No need to bring the big backpack for a one-day adventure. The Wanderer can handle it: This is a daypack with a ventilated back panel, a hydration sleeve ready for your water reservoir and plenty of convenient pockets. And it feels like you are just wearing a jacket!
A MAN ON A MISSION
Andean Blue is a one-man operation. Or better said: A one-Peruvian-man operation. I was born and raised in Lima, and currently live in New York. I want to raise awareness of the rich Andean Culture I grew up in while supporting other Peruvians who protect the biodiversity of the Andes and the Amazon by donating 3% of profits to a Peruvian nonprofit.
The textiles are sourced from Peru and my hope is to share the legacy and beauty with others while inspiring outdoor adventures that make us one with nature.
As the company grows, I’m always thinking of ways to make the product more sustainable and environmentally-friendly.
If you have questions or comments, I’d love to hear from you. You can also subscribe to the email newsletter. We don’t spam ever. Thank you for being here and for your support.
AUTHENTIC ANDEAN TEXTILES
All textiles are woven in Peru, which makes our bags stand out from the pack.
The textiles are all Andean sourced. This is an important part of my mission as I seek to bring the Andean culture to daring adventurers and bold travelers like yourself. The idea was born when talking to some friends in May 2020, they complained that they couldn’t go to Peru because of Covid19. My first thought was: “What if I bring Peru to you?” I contacted a couple of friends in Peru and got things moving. Six months later I was taking my red Wanderer for a hike.
Textiles have long been a part of Andean culture. Like our pottery, textiles have been found in ancient tombs, some thousands of years old. The textiles we use are not quite this old, but they carry with them the rich Andean history in their intricate designs. Today, many people still handcraft these textiles following carefully kept family techniques and traditions. Like in many other places around the globe, the patterns and colors are used to identify the wearer’s place of origin, cultural background and even some times to know if they are looking for a date.
If you have been to Peru or any other Andean country, you surely know what I am talking about. The colors and designs of our textiles have found their way into modern fashion and they are very present all over the streets and homes. It is such a big part of our culture and history, we couldn’t imagine the world without them.
BACKPACKS THAT TELL STORIES
Before you can share your adventures, people will already know you are bold. Our backpacks speak of history and culture. And you will carry both on your back. Blaze your own path without any apologies.
